Welcome to Matthews, Indiana.

Whether you are a long time resident of the area or whether you are looking for a comfortable, safe, small town atmosphere to relocate to, we hope you will consider Matthews for a job, commerce, church, or a visit to our historic Cumberland Covered Bridge.

The wide main street recalls the gas boom era when Matthews was rumored to being considered as Indiana's state capital. We envision a restoration and revitalization of downtown Matthews with more businesses and beautification efforts as we apply for grants to make these dreams a reality.

We hope that you will be a part of these changes, if not as a resident, as a visitor of the Bridge Festival in September and patron of our shops. Also, on the Mississinewa River, there is a picnic area and a boat ramp by the covered bridge along with our fisherman Garfield statute.

Included in this website you will find biographies of our six board members and a brief history of our chamber. Also, there is a list of our member businesses, three churches, and city offices that might be of interest to you.
